The Way You Look At Me
This is a unique print (1) using cyanotype process.
What stands out in this print is its antique character — it feels like a relic from the 19th century, yet it was created in 2025. Unlike digital prints, this work bears the unmistakable mark of being handmade, with a depth and presence that technology cannot replicate.
DETAILS
Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes, valued for its deep, luminous blue tones and handcrafted character. Each print carries subtle variations from coating, exposure, and development, making every piece truly unique and collectible. Cyanotypes are highly stable and can last for generations when made on archival cotton paper and properly cared for. Some 19th-century cyanotypes are still in excellent condition today.
This cyanotype was created by producing a digital negative in Photoshop, printing it, and exposing it under UV light onto cyanotype-coated paper. After development in water, the print revealed its signature deep cyan blue, which was then toned in a coffee solution to achieve a warmer, more nuanced finish.
Printed on Somerset Satin — a beautiful, cylinder-mould-made, 100% cotton paper favored by the world’s leading printmakers and graphic artists. The result is not only unique print but also an artwork built to last for generations.
